For example, add a beat soundtrack to it. The problem is I fail at exactly matching the bpm of the vocals track. I try playing around with the master bpm, sometimes seems like I've got it, but after a while you can hear the gap in synchronization increasing more. I am importing an MP3 song into Studio One 3 - Artist edition. I am trying to figure how to determine the BPM so I can add additional tracks. I looked at various postings and none of them seem to give me the right answer.
And besides, is there a short cut for me to change the tempo number from 120 with up/down arrow keys. Looks like I may have to enter the value manually.

If you have the latest version of Melodyne then you can drag the tempo map that Melodyne produces during its analysis into the tempo line of S1 or if you don't have Melodyne functionality you can perform a manual Tempo mapping exercise.
Either way, check out the many available YouTube videos on Tempo mapping in S1 particularly those by JPettit a regular S1 forum contributer and Tempo mapping guru.

Maybe one day I'll actually finish a project!

I believe Melodyne is not free. I have to activate it. I guess I have to do the old fashion way. I have an arranger keyboard and toggle the tempo with metronome until there is a match. Some of the older songs produced in 1970s may not have steady tempo. Thanks

Here's a good video on quick tempo mapping from Studio One Expert. This is the old fashioned way, so no Melodyne needed.

When in doubt: YouTube. It's full of tutorials.

Melodyne Essential v4 is free for anyone using Studio One v3 onwards. Melodyne Essential v2 is free for anyone using S1 version 2 and earlier, I believe. And it's worth activating it, not just to alter vocal tuning but for all kinds of purposes such as repitching audio samples.
However, I don't know if Essential allows you to do tempo mapping as I'm on version 4 Editor. Anyone know for certain?

I don’t have the latest version. I might have the one before that. Will this method still work?

It should. Tempo mapping is different than just finding the tempo of a song.

Also some hip hop guys on youtube have shown me this method and frankly it makes the most sense to me:
Find the downbeat of the sample/song, cut at that transient and get a four bar loop going. Drag the tempo up and down until your loop loops perfectly (you can also look/visualize where beats 2, 3 and 4 are, especially if there is snare on 2 and 4). Bam: That's the tempo of the song. Right click the audio file, type in the tempo, and now it will stretch to whatever tempo you have set.
Important note with this method: Make sure that there is no tempo already set for the audio file (right click it and type in 0 for file tempo), that way when you drag the global tempo up and down it won't stretch the file at all.
You can also start clicking the tempo numbers down below and it'll become a tap tempo, but those are so inaccurate to me..Or maybe I'm just too inaccurate

Virtual DJ is a download software used by DJs to replace their turntables and CD players, and use digital music instead of vinyl and CDs. In the same way that the CD players used by DJs have more options than a regular Hi-Fi CD player, DJ Virtual for Windows has more options than a simple media player like iTunes. Virtual dj old version setup free download pc. Virtual DJ Software, MP3 and Video mix software. VirtualDJ provides instant BPM beat matching, synchronized sampler, scratch, automatic seamless loops. Virtual DJ Description. Virtual DJ Home Free Edition is the best MP3 mixing tool, targeting every DJ from bedroom DJs to professional superstars like Carl Cox. With its breakthrou.

Knowing the BPM (beats per minute) of your music is of course essential for both understanding better where various genres of music fit on the BPM scale and also for mixing those tunes together once you know.

Nearly all the software people DJ with automatically calculates the BPM of your music for you – it’s part of the loading time taken when you drag a new track onto a DJ deck in Virtual DJ, Traktor or Serato etc.

But what if you don’t have DJ software yet? What if you don’t want your whole collection in your DJ software? What if you just want to fill in the BPM ID3 tag of your files in iTunes?

Find Bpm Garageband

Luckily, there’s a little-known free program that will do that (and only that) for you. It’s from the makers of DJ mix automation software Mixmeister, and it’s called BPM Analyzer. It’s available for PC and Mac, and you can get it from here:

It couldn’t be simpler to use – you just drag and drop your files and watch MixMeister BPM Analyzer review them one by one.

I’d recommend running it overnight if you’ve got a big collection – and don’t forget to ask your iTunes (or whatever library software you use) to rescan the ID3 tags of your MP3s once you’re done. The reason is that some software (including iTunes) doesn’t do this automatically.
