Unveiled via Kickstarter last year, Skulpt is something of a departure for British synth brand Modal Electronics. Best known for the ‘00’ range of synths, Modal has built its name on high-end instruments that combine analogue circuitry with cutting-edge electronics; machines packed with quality features but with price tags upwards of £2k.

It includes a 2 Pole Variable State Filter, Arpeggiator, 128 Storeable Patches, 64 Storeable Sequences, a real-time Sequencer, 2 Audio rate LFO's, 3 Envelope Generators, Delay and Waveshaping Distortion FX, and USB MIDI and MIDI DIN.
  • SKULPT is a digital synth, Its all DSP, virtual analog, four voices with 8 oscillators per voice, variable waveforms, FM and unison detune which also covers chordal intervals. Its a small desktop, battery powered unit, all plastic - I guess built to the cost constrictions, with all knobs as rotary encoders (sending MIDI CC) plus a 1 octave touch keyboard (b to b).
